Travel Writers Tour
23/01/2009
On the 22nd January, B&H hosted a delegation of the UKs top travel journalists from the British Guild of Travel Writers (BGTW) on behalf of its client, Yorkshire South Tourism. The national and special interest journalists enjoyed an action packed itinerary, organised by B&H, which included a visit to the Peace Gardens and the Winter Gardens temperate glasshouse, followed by a tour of Museums Sheffield: Millennium Gallery.
The afternoon was taken up with an exclusive classic versus contemporary Sheffield music tour, where the group experienced the up and coming live music venue, The Plug, as well as Sheffields magnificent City Hall.
Graham Wrench, manager of critically acclaimed Sheffield artist Richard Hawley, took part in a question and answer session with the journalists, and provided them with an insight into the citys vibrant music scene.
The afternoon was rounded off with a trip to the recently re-opened Kelham Island Museum before the day came to a close with dinner at one of Sheffields newest city restaurants, The Wig & Pen, and accommodation at the luxury 4-star Mercure St Pauls Hotel.
The visit provided B&H with the chance to showcase YSTs leisure tourism offer and meet with key travel journalists who are now looking to feature the region in their forthcoming features.
